The Welsh Viking | Here's Why Historical Combat is NEVER Authentic @TheWelshViking | Uploaded February 2022 | Updated October 2024, 15 hours ago.
Historical reenactors strive for accuracy in all things. We get our wool, silk and linen fabric woven by hand on authentic medieval looms to the correct width and thread count. We have our swords and weapons hand forged by blacksmiths from iron of the correct elemental and chemical structure. We eat the right food, wear the right shoes, and spend thousands of pounds and dollars doing it for the fun of it.

Then we always get the fighting wrong. Always, in one way or another, we don't get it right on the battlefield.

Here's why that's ok! It's a hobby! You aren't a Viking, Graham! You're an IT consultant!
