Russell's guest broke down how the Wellcome Trust, led at the time by Sir Jeremy Farrar, made around ten billion dollars during the pandemic thanks to its heavy investment portfolio, including stakes in pharmaceutical companies and even the food delivery app DoorDash, while Farrar himself was instrumental in pushing for lockdowns. He connected this directly to Professor Neil Ferguson's now infamous Report 9 out of Imperial College London, itself heavily funded by the Gates Foundation, the paper used to justify locking down much of the world, predicting millions of deaths in the US and half a million in the UK without lockdowns. He pointed out that a US Vaccine Task Force official cited that exact paper when questioned by reporters about the sudden need for lockdowns, despite the underlying computer model never being peer reviewed, never publicly disclosed, and based on flawed exponential growth assumptions. Sometimes the paper that reshaped the world was never actually checked by anyone outside the room that wrote it.
