Bill Evans single-handedly changed the sound of jazz piano with his left-handed, four-note rootless voicings. They have become so popular and widely used that people often refer to these as ‘stock voicings’.

These stock voicings provide the foundational harmony of the chord, along with colour tones & extensions. They also have inherently smooth voice leading.

If you spend the time to learn this voicing system, you will have two voicing options for any given chord. They are perfect for accompanying yourself whilst improvising in the right hand.
