In 2019, during the Journey into Midnight: Light and Life Below the Twilight Zone expedition in the Gulf of Mexico, the team captured rare footage of a giant squid that measured at least 3 to 3.7 meters (10 to 12 feet) in length. Its location, just 100 miles southeast of New Orleans, shows that the deep waters in America’s backyard hold wonders...
