This International Women’s Day, we honor Chen Yurong, a senior welding technician at CRRC Datong and the only female master welder in her workshop.

Since joining the company in 1996, she has spent 29 years on the production line—witnessing the evolution of China’s rail transit industry from Shaoshan electric locomotives to Fuxing models. Different welding wires, different components—like crossroads in life, each requiring precision, patience, and unwavering commitment.

“There’s no such thing as talent,” she says. “I just practiced a little more than others.”

Craftsmanship is not loud.
It is holding something soft,
and forging something strong.
