I look forward to reading your thoughts in the comments section, as well as seeing what happens once this video starts getting around. This is an exciting time in my life, and I've never felt so passionately about any one specific thing with regards to a career goal as I do right now for this.

My specific goals with regard to pursuing a career in educational video production fall somewhere along these lines, and likely in this order:

1. Build my YouTube audience by continuing to provide high quality videos with educational and entertaining content. Part of building this audience involves a high degree of networking, collaboration with other YouTubers, help from loyal viewers/subscribers, and establishing a website capable of increasing traffic to the videos and this channel.

2. Raise/save enough money to purchase a Canon EOS Rebel T3i, as well as a PC capable of editing 1080p video in real-time (approximate cost: $3,000).

3. Achieve YouTube partner status and utilize advertising (when appropriate) in order to supplement my income to the extent that I can feasibly put all of my time and effort into making videos instead of working a typical day job.

4. Produce premium quality educational materials for schools, academies, English learning centers, etc. These videos would be significantly more in-depth than the kind of teaching I've been doing on this channel up until now, with contextually defined subject matter and presentation. If successful, these materials would be my primary source of income, freeing up lots of time to continue to produce free content for YouTube.

A Note On Motivation: I've been making video for fun for so long that it's a wonder I hadn't put anything substantial on YouTube before 2009. My first goal in life was to become a director, inspired by Kevin Smith to make independent films. I planned to initially go to school for film after junior college, but through a series of events, my life was sufficiently side-tracked to the point that it took me 10 years to get an Associate of Arts degree (two of them, actually). I am now working on my B.A. in the field of English Language Learner Studies, and hope to use what I've learned there to make educational videos for non-English speakers as well as materials for typical English-speaking students.

Note On Money: As it stands, I am working a full-time job, finishing my degree at school, spending time with my wife, and using what little free time I do have to make these videos. The money that my wife and I make pay for our bills, and that's about it. We don't have much spending money. This is the reason that I am looking at selling music in order to pay for the materials to jump-start my newly chosen career path. If no one wants to buy my music, that's fine — I'll scrape and save for the camera and PC — it will just take me a lot longer to make progress toward my goals.

Once I finish 12 tracks, I will be releasing them as a proper album "Volume One" and the latter 12 tracks as "Volume Two" in addition to the non-educational album we're currently working on.
