We’ll speak with the Vice President for Enrollment and Dean of Admission and Financial Aid at Rice University Yvonne Romero about the school's expanded financial aid program and what it could mean for students who once thought a Rice education was financially out of reach. Then, on this first day of school, we’ll talk to the Houston Chronicle’s HISD reporter Claire Partain on the district’s changes for the new school year. Turning to the weather, Dr. Hal Needham, better known as Hurricane Hal, an extreme weather and disaster scientist based in Galveston will join us to discuss hurricane season and more. And finally, publisher of the “Montrose Star” Laura Villagran will tell us about their 50th anniversary this year and how they’ve become one of Texas' longest-running LGBTQ+ publications. Deborah Hope guest hosts.
