Heimar was formed in the summer of 2011 by J. Coleman (Dagon/Valsgarde/Ex-Rape Pillage and Burn) and D. Sikora (Obsidian Throne/Of Oak/Valsgarde). Heimar was formed with the objective of being a creative out let for the member's philosophies and personal beliefs.
The foundation of the band is formed around esoteric ideals and the individual primordial spirit. Heimar is the earth all around and the roots that run deep with in it. The band name is derived from the Nordic word 'heima', meaning 'home', a place where one resides.
The goals of Heimar are to exist with out limitation or boundary to the expression of spirit through our sound. The members of Heimar are influenced by a metal back ground which is apparent in the sound of the music. There is neither expectation nor pretension for the future of where the band will take this sound. Heimar will create as it sees fit, unwilling to compromise in any way to any one.
