From Heaven Hill Distillery comes a new release of Grain To Glass Specialty Barrel Series. The inaugural release of this series features three new expressions; a wheated bourbon, a rye bourbon, and a rye whiskey. In this episode, we take a look at the two bourbons. The rye bourbon has a mash bill of 52% corn, 35% rye, and 13% malted barley while the wheated bourbon swaps out the 35% rye for wheat. They spend their entire life, almost 7 years, aging in Chinquapin Oak. Both expressions also use the distilleries historic barrel entry proof of 107°, which has given them both a bottling proof of 105°. All three bottles retail for $129.99.
