The word "heaven" usually brings to mind images of white clouds, radiant light and peaceful bliss and is believed to be the eternal habitation in the afterlife for the righteous. On the other hand, the word "hell," brings to mind images of darkness, fire and agonizing torment and is believed to be the eternal habitation in the afterlife for the wicked. These images have been imprinted into our minds for many generations, but are they accurate portrayals of the afterlife according to the Bible, or are they created out of cultural evolution and assimilation? To answer this question we will carefully explore the Biblical, historical and archeological records to uncover the truth about how the ancients viewed "heaven and hell."
