When a heart transplant patient asks her surgeon to run a half-marathon with her, there is only one answer: YES! MedStar Washington Hospital Center Cardiac Surgeon Ezequiel Molina, MD, had never run 13.1 miles before but accepted the challenge from patient Jayde Kelly, an avid runner. Following her heart transplant surgery in early 2020, she had a long, extremely tough road to recovery but persevered, so she could compete again. Jayde and Dr. Molina spent several months training, and finished their half-marathon together in November 2020, crossing the finish line hand-in-hand.
