Blessed Urban called the Crusade,
For the land of Christians are pillaged and razed,
For Saracens made it a goal to subdue,
The Cross of Christ, most glorious and true!

And behold there was found a man,
A Godfrey Boullion who would retake the Land,
Where Christ the Lord was bound by His hands,
and a traitor would hang himself over the sands.

so to safeguard the land; where the God-man did dwell,
Who by death on the Cross broke the kingdom of Hell.

The crusading armies passed over the land,
Through tempests and clashes, through canyons so grand.
Such numerous dangers of battles to death,
for Heavens' gained, heeding the Vicar's request!

As thunder the drums of the armies resound,
as banners of nobles fly high from the ground,
the rumble of horsemen in numerous file,
the glint of their armor be seen for a mile!

Thus Castle by castle be conquered in time,
till lastly was seen O Jerusalem's shine!
Alas then Duke Godfrey gave order to siege,
The greatest of hardship to accomplish indeed!
