Asian Americans are the fastest growing ethnic/racial group in the United States. While heart disease is the leading cause of death for most Asians, the risk differs among Asian subgroups. Learn about these differences and understand ways that you can lower your risk through lifestyle and behavioral changes.

Eugene Yang, MD, MS, FACC, is a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiology at the University of Washington School of Medicine and holds the Carl and Renée Behnke Endowed Professorship for Asian Health. Dr. Yang is chair of the ACC Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease Section, Vice-Chair of ACC Asia Pacific Scientific Conference, and member of the ACC Annual Scientific Sessions and Lifelong Learning Oversight Committees. He co-chairs the Hypertension Working Group for the ACC Prevention Council and is the director of the Asian Health Initiative and co-director of the Cardiovascular Wellness and Prevention Program at UW Medicine.
