Crazy or genius? I paint art using a shoehorn. Who even needs brushes?
The inventor of the shoehorn probably never imagined that you could use it to create artwork. But I’m telling you, yes, you absolutely can, and it can look really beautiful if you pay attention to a few details:
The paints should be nice and fluid so they can flow off the shoehorn. I simply thinned mine with water.
You should also vary how you apply the paint. To do that, I prepared two small cups layered with different colors beforehand. That way, I’m not just pouring colors onto the shoehorn one after another, but occasionally adding some of the pre-mixed paint as well.
In the end, this creates a truly unique pattern on the canvas.
The small cells and cloud-like effects come from a special paint mixture that I explain in my course under Updates in Module 9 – Update number 3. For this painting, I added a bit more water to the white. It was an experiment, I’ll keep testing it, but I’m already really impressed with the texture and the cells.
