Are we witnessing the birth of a new megastar?! Is this an all time great in the making?!
Last night we saw the unthinkable against the reigning champs, but we gotta start off with yet another wild thriller involving the Knicks.
After barely making it out alive against Philadelphia, New York quickly realized that things were not going to get any easier against the Pacers.
Indiana imposed their own playing style running up and down combined with a ton of passing.
The Pacers led the entire league in assists per game in the regular season with 30.
And by half time, they were right on that pace with 15.
And of course their leader in points at the break was Tyr…hold on…it was T.J. Mcconnel.
Dude was a problem for the Knicks on both ends. Knifing through the defense for the layup, finding guys with the assist, and he even played some great defense.
Now, Brunson still got his points, but he sure had to work for it.Speaking of him, he started off great once again with 18 points at the break but if the ball was flying for Indiana, almost everything that the Knicks got was off of one on one.
So they found themselves in a 9 point hole towards the end of the second. But there was still time left before the buzzer.
Still, the Pacers had confidence in the second half and came out strong. Myles Turner killed the Knicks off of the pick and roll. And with 13 points in the third, he led Indiana to a blistering 62% shooting from the field.
And they would have built onto the lead if it wasn’t for Donte Divincenzo hitting some timely threes not letting the game get out of control.
The Knicks responded with an even better quarter of 65% from the field.
Which brings us to a wild finish at the end. Actually before that…here’s something wild.
Noow we can go to the fourth, a crazy back and forth battle between Siakam, Nesmith and Nembhard on one end, and Hart and Brunson on the other.
Josh Hart was an animal in this game with a total of 24 points 13 rebounds and 8 assists, coming up huge throughout the entire game.
But maaan Brunson went hero mode scoring 21 in the fourth as he was not going to let the Knicks lose.
And the crowd absolutely exploded when New York finally took the lead.
Still, Indiana would not surrender, and this continued to be a back and forth battle and a game of who blinks first. And after Nemhard does that right here, things escalate to a whole new level because…
And maaan, things are just now starting to get interesting because they go for the quick 2, trying to extend the game, and then on the inbound by the Knicks, it’s chaos.
Wooow unbelievable, the Pacers challenge and we clearly see that Brunson touches it last, so Indy can take the lead here.
And you will not believe how this is going to end…
Fortunately for me and my Knicks, the refs confirm the call on the review, and they get even luckier when Indiana fouls before the ball is inbounded, which gives them a free throw and the ball.
This turned out to be a colossal mistake, because Brunson knocks it down, and just seconds later when he’s fouled again, he comes up clutch and hits 2 more making this a 2 possession game. That added free throw changed everything and the Knicks survive yet another playoff thriller. Crazyyy.
BTW guys this is RateGame, an app that I am a part of. We are building a community to help restore the purity and the love of the game which is being polluted by all the gambling and betting surrounding the NBA. It’s simple, you rate the game, and give your quick thoughts about it. I rated this one an 8.1 which is close to the average rating from the others.
The trick is that you only get a 3 hour window from when the game ends. That way, only the ones that truly watched the game live could rate. No reading summaries on websites.
These are your honest thoughts. Also, if you watch a lot of games, it’s like your sports diary and it’s great to look back. I watch a ton of NBA so this is awesome for me.
Download RateGame on iphone from the link in the description and join me in the community. Android coming soon.
Moving on to Denver where this was a must win for the champions, but what happened in game 2, left us all in shock.
The Timberwolves came out like…yeah basically like hungry wolves absolutely jumping on these Nuggets.
I could not believe my eyes. First of all, Denver is not just any team. They’re serious, they’re the champions, and this was a must win.
To see them being helpless like this, I really can’t criticize them for it. This was all a credit to Minnesota doing it for the second straight game. And all of that without Rudy Gobert in this one. Absolutely astonishing.
And not only did Towns play great defensively protecting the rim, but on offense he came out firing with 27 points on a 66% from the field.
