What happens when one of the designers behind Magic: The Gathering creates a brand-new collectible card game from the ground up?
Meet Wonders of The First, a new trading card game (TCG/CCG) built around strategic gameplay, an expansive universe, and cards designed to be collected.
Wonders of The First was created by Brian Tinsman, an Emmy-nominated, award-winning game designer who spent 11 years as a lead game designer on Magic: The Gathering. Across more than 20 years in game design, Tinsman has worked on more than 50 shipped titles, including projects involving Star Wars, Dungeons & Dragons, Harry Potter, Transformers, Pokémon, MLB, Marvel, FarmVille and Zynga Poker.
In Wonders of The First, players take on the role of Stoneseekers and battle for control of powerful Stones across seven realms. The game combines deckbuilding and strategic gameplay with a major focus on collectibility, including serialized cards, one-of-ones, alternate art cards and multiple levels of rarity.
In this video, we take a closer look at Wonders of The First, the gameplay behind the CCG, what makes its cards collectible, and the vision behind the game.
