✨ He Celebrated His Bar Mitzvah At 83 Years Old!
Roy Woods just became a bar mitzvah. He is 83 years old.
70 years after he turned 13, Roy had a bar mitzvah with Chabad and shared how its never too late.
His mother was Jewish. His father was not. Roy was raised Catholic, sent to Catholic school, and never given a Jewish education. Growing up in a Jersey City housing project with nine brothers and sisters, everyone in the neighborhood still knew he was Jewish, and so did he.
Roy recently decided he wanted to learn more about his own heritage, so he reached out to the Aleph Institute, with whom he was in touch with because his son was incarcerated. He was connected with Rabbi Benish of Chabad of Bayonne. They studied together so that, at 83, Roy could finally celebrate his Bar Mitzvah.
