At the 75 Chrome Shop Truck Show, Chris caught up with Chris Sparks from Hudson, Florida, and took a closer look at one of the most unique service trucks at the show.
This 1997 Peterbilt 379 is powered by a B-model CAT with a 13-speed transmission and features a 14-foot Stellar service body with a 14,000-pound crane. What started as a Sunday driver for Chris and his father turned into a meaningful tribute after his dad passed away. The color and striping were inspired by a Kenworth his father owned, making this build much more than just another custom truck.
Chris is a heavy equipment mechanic by trade, working on everything from 100-ton haul trucks to drill rigs, and he wanted to bring something different to the truck show scene. With rebuilt body panels, a gone-through crane and compressor, amber lighting, and an old-school look, this Peterbilt service truck stands out without being overdone.
This is the truck’s first show appearance, and Chris has plans to continue finishing the inside of the box, adding details, and possibly taking it to shows like Mayberry Truck Show, Gulf Coast Big Rig Truck Show, and MATS in the future.
