This series follows my Hardcore Ironman's progress past the completionist cape (that had its own series, so be sure to watch that ;D). Goals for this series include trimmed comp and master quest point cape among other item collection goals and achievements.
If you don't know what Ironman Mode is, it's basically playing Runescape without interacting with other players (trading, GE, assists etc). Hardcore Ironman mode is the same except it has perma-death with a few exceptions.
Guess I'll explain the end of the video in more detail here, don't wanna respond to too many comments but I do want to be as transparent as possible... TL;DR: I'm not having fun on Runescape anymore.
Over the past few months I've been seeing my time on this game become more of a chore than anything else. Grinding out requirements used to be fun, but I've done pretty much all of them on the HCIM so doing them again on Final Chillz was becoming tedious. While I was finishing the Castle Wars requirement (which is a serious issue of a requirement itself) several more requirements were added. I tried my best to do them on the HCIM, and you saw what happened in the video. The trimmed comp requirements I have left are not fun to do whatsoever, and I expect they'll come out with more and more similar requirements to keep loyal players busy. I don't want to deal with that.
I've been pretty disappointed with the PvP content in this game, but never had serious setbacks as a result until now. They're trying to revitalize it with incentives, but those aren't going to fix the obvious balance issues, annoying mechanics and straight-up awful gameplay of RS3 PvP. It isn't fun to PK "honorably", so PKers resort to basically griefing people just trying to skill. Now they're throwing comp reqs into the wilderness. We can have disagreements on the wilderness and its role in the game, but I'm severely disappointed with it.
Another problem I have with recent updates that will probably continue in the future is the focus they now have on aesthetics. They have completely neglected the gameplay aspects of new updates such as the arc in favor of making the aesthetics beautiful for their new game engine. This makes for some pretty frustrating and dull content with a colorful cover, like white chicks wearing makeup at Starbucks. Seeing the microtransaction updates all over the place is a smack to the face as well, even though it very rarely effects ironman accounts.
I hope this clears it up for you if you were wondering why I'm quitting. I should also mention that I now have a part-time job that pays me about the same amount in a day that I get from making videos for a month. I have student loans to pay and I'm hoping to be able to afford my own place soon. Playing 10 hours of Runescape a day just isn't feasible anymore, which is what it takes to make the kind of videos I want to make.
