Talking Thrones | HBO Official News: House of the Dragon's GREATEST Update!? - Game of Thrones Prequel Series @TalkingThrones | Uploaded September 2021 | Updated October 2024, 11 hours ago.
Welcome back for another Game of Thrones Prequel Series video. In this video, I will be talking about HBO's official announcement regarding the developmental stages of House of the Dragon. You will find out what House of the Dragon's co-creators, George R.R. Martin, and Ryan Condal said about their process of making this new prequel series. According to Ryan Condal, George R.R. Martin helped him create the pilot episode of House of the Dragon. For those of you who don't know, George R.R. Martin hasn't written an episode of Game of Thrones since he wrote, The Lion and the Rose, back in season 4. Another interesting thing I want to show you is what Ryan Condal said about his knowledge of, and love for, A Song of Ice and Fire. I think this is actually the biggest House of the Dragon update to date. It's not as sexy as set photos, or 17 dragons, but it's arguably far more important, because a show's success is usually determined by how well it is written. Let me know what you think down below. As always, thank you for watching!
What’s it about?
Based on George R.R. Martin’s “Fire & Blood,” the series, which is set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, tells the story of House Targaryen..
Who’s behind the scenes?
Martin and Ryan Condal (Colony, Hercules) will serve as co-creators on the series. Miguel Sapochnik and Condal will be showrunners, and the pair will also serve as executive producers along with Martin, Vince Gerardis, Sara Lee Hess and Ron Schmidt. Sapochnik, whose directing credits include six Game of Thrones episodes, won Emmy and DGA honors for “Battle of the Bastards.” He was nominated for another Emmy in 2019 for directing “The Long Night” and won the Emmy for Best Drama Series as an executive producer for the final season. Clare Kilner (The Alienist: Angel of Darkness, The Wedding Date) and Geeta V. Patel (Meet the Patels, The Witcher) will also direct the series. Greg Yaitanes (Banshee, House) is director and co-executive producer. Game of Thrones and Westworld composer Ramin Djawadi will score the series.
Who’s in the cast?
Paddy Considine (HBO’s The Third Day and The Outsider), Olivia Cooke (Ready Player One), Emma D’Arcy (Truth Seekers), Matt Smith (The Crown, Doctor Who), Steve Toussaint (It’s a Sin, Doctor Who), Eve Best (Nurse Jackie, The King’s Speech), Rhys Ifans (Notting Hill, The Amazing Spider-Man) and Sonoya Mizuno (Ex Machina, Crazy Rich Asians) have signed on for the series.
