Years ago I was working at a care home for the elderly, (installing emergency lighting and fire protection equipment) . One of the male residents used to speak to us when we were in his vicinity. He once said " I used to be important as an Officer in the senior service, but now I`m just like the rest of them here. We`re just walking into the sunset"

She used to be an entertainer
dancing softly on the stage
mesmerised them with her beauty
singing of the good ol days
painting pictures in the meadow
walking barefoot on the sand
telling stories to the children
always there to lend a hand

now she walks into the sunset
on a hazy afternoon
the sands of time flow swiftly
It all passed by too soon
