Uncontrolled Release Contained

Rob finds a chemical leak from the sulfuric acid tank. He calls his boss (Vicky) to inform her of the leak.

Since the leak is too large to be an incidental release, Rob describes it as an uncontrolled release contained (meaning the leak is within the secondary containment). If the leak begins to overflow from the secondary containment, it becomes a Hazmat Emergency.

Understanding how to describe a chemical leak becomes very important when making notifications. This effective communication will help tremendously in the Hazmat response.
