The third single from the impending debut album from singer songwriter Haylie Davis, ‘Young Man’ is a lament for misplaced affection propelled by an echoey, yearning steel guitar. Dipping deep into Emmylou Harris’ knapsack, it’s a modern paean to a gone-too-soon acquaintance who never quite focussed on the events at hand. Listen here: HaylieDavis.lnk.to/YoungManID
Haylie comments, “Young Man was born a few years back in a Texas green room while I was out on tour with Sam Burton. I was fresh off a breakup, emotionally raw, and the song arrived naturally in that in-between space—part exhaustion, part reflection, part release. Later, I brought it to life with Michael Harris at Valentine Recording Studio. Working with Michael was a joy; he creates an atmosphere that’s both encouraging and effortless, making the recording process feel less like work and more like discovery.”
“Charming echoes of effortlessly cool 70s folk.” Americana UK
A coming-of-age slice of introspective self-realisation, ‘Young Man’ circumnavigates the everyday trudge of life with a flawless vocal delivery over a meandering melody that haunts as it finds its own salvation. A breathtaking snapshot of a failed alliance set asunder by age.
Haylie Davis is a Los Angeles based artist beginning a release campaign with Fire Records for her debut album scheduled for this year. For her debut full-length Davis ventures into the world of rock n’ roll and pop while still touching on past influences from country and folk. Haylie Davis’ voice can also be found on many other projects in the scene such as “Dear Departed” by Sam Burton, “Hiding in Plain Sight” by Drugdealer, “California Blues” by Alex Amen, Sylvie, and more.
