Whispering Pine Trail is one of the best trails in the state of Missouri. It is the reason that backpacker come to Hawn State Park. We hiked both the North and the South Loops of the Whispering Pine Trail at Hawn State Park in Missouri in August of 2017. We arrived at the trail head in plenty of time and had prepped to hike all 10 miles. The South Loop is stunning and worth hiking. We have hiked parts of this trail many times and in many seasons. This video is comprised of footage from 2 hikes.
From the Park's Website: Whispering Pine Trail was constructed in 1976 and 1977 with the help of the Ozark Chapter of the Sierra Club. This effort has resulted in what is generally considered to be one of the best hiking and backpacking trails in the state.
The trail provides the opportunity for day hikes of varying lengths or a longer backpacking trip. It meanders through a beautiful mixed hardwood and pine forest, which is home to a variety of animals such as bobcat and wild turkey.
