A large area of thunderstorms about 1,000 miles southeast of the Big Island of Hawaii has been dubbed a tropical rainstorm by AccuWeather meteorologists. It is forecast to strengthen further in the coming days, becoming a tropical storm and perhaps a hurricane this weekend. It is forecast to bring dangerous surf, heavy rain, flooding, and damaging winds to the islands this weekend.
