Hello From Hawaii | Hawaii Perspectives: Rethinking My Own Opinions About Paradise @HelloFromHawaii | Uploaded March 2024 | Updated October 2024, 19 hours ago.
I noticed that on one of my recent videos about Hawaii that a lot of the comments were in agreement with what I was saying. And while that's encouraging as a content creator, I stepped back and reflected on how social media can sometimes group like-minded people in certain silos. In Hawaii, we sometimes experience island thinking or group thinking, which can sometimes be detrimental to how we do things here. I just wanted to let others know that it's okay if people don't agree with my opinions about Hawaii. I've never claimed to speak for all or a majority of locals. Instead, I'm much more interested in the discussion and discourse we can have about Hawaii. As long as the comments are respectful, I'm opening to disagreement. And again, this isn't targeted at any one comment that disagreed with me, but more about the overwhelming comments in agreement with me and just making sure to check myself.
