Rainbow Warrior football jerseys will have a new addition during the team's season opener against Stanford on Saturday, Aug. 29.
The University of Hawaiʻi collaborated with longtime UH Athletics partner Hawaiian Airlines to feature the Pualani patch on the team's jerseys.
"Hawaiian Airlines has been an incredible supporter of UH Athletics for decades, and we’re excited to celebrate that partnership in a new way. Having the Hawaiian Airlines logo on our football jerseys is a visible symbol of our shared commitment to student-athletes and to the people of Hawaiʻi," said Matt Elliott, director of UH Athletics.
For more than 30 years, the airline served as the "official Airline of UH Athletics," which includes the travel of 21 varsity athletic programs.
Teams will board its Airbus A321neo on charter flights planned around the team's schedule, the airline said.
Elliott shared how important the charter flights are to the success and well-being of the student-athletes.
"Hawaiian Airlines provides an unmatched travel experience that helps our team prepare, recover and compete at the highest level. Their support extends far beyond game day and makes a meaningful difference throughout the season," he said.
During the football season, Hawaiian said it will bring the Rainbow Warriors to conference and nonconference games at Stanford, Wyoming, Arizona State, Northern Illinois, UTEP and Nevada.
