In 2017, Cyndi and I got a late start hiking down the Halemau'u trail trail into the crater of the Haleakala Volcano on Maui, Hawaii. We made it about half way, and vowed to try again.
This year (2018), we got a (somewhat) earlier start, and we made it (spoiler alert). This is our documentary of that hike, and an amazing sunset.
As we note, this was a day spent mostly in the mist - little visibility of that amazing terrain. The 2017 conditions were crystal clear, so go look there, too:
