Many of the shops lining the popular street are closed at night and the crowds thin out, but if you stick around you can see a different side of Kawagoe.

When the sun sets, the Kawagoe Magistrate Office Patrol Group comes out to make sure the town is safe.
They wear the same outfits as Edo period government officials and carry around wooden poles to promote fire safety in the town of Kawagoe.
They patrol the town every 2nd and 4th week of the month on Saturdays from 6pm to 7pm.

No reservations needed. If there is an opening that day, anyone is able to participate.
