At some point, you must stop talking and start doing. HATponics is what happens when somebody takes that realization to heart. Read about them here: blog.brightagrotech.com/hatponics-how-to-feed-20-million-people-by-2020

Ryan Cox, CEO and founder of HAT(Hydro-,Aqua-,Terra-)ponics realized this in 2012.

He heard a lot of talking about solving global and domestic hunger problems, but everything being done was a temporary fix. Movie stars and philanthropists spent millions on transporting food to the hungry, but troubles encountered en-route caused waste.

The food that did arrive at its destination was only a temporary solution. It’s used up, and then what? People are hungry again. “Give a man a fish, he eats for a day. Teach him to fish, he eats for a lifetime.”

Ryan saw a problem with this mainstream solution. He decided to do something different. So he started a non-profit called Inner City Aquaponics to prototype a farm.

Then in 2013, he gathered a team of competent, like-minded people around him, and he started to execute on better ideas on a wider scale. His goal? Feed 20 million people with farm systems by the year 2020.

Driven by a strong vision, lots of hard work, and partnerships made with hundreds of schools on the east coast, HATponics started accomplishing their goal. Their core tools to feeding people are:

-systems being used to feed and teach U.S. students and
-the Global Challenges program.

So far, HATponics are about 1/4 of the way there; they estimate that their systems feed about 5 million people worldwide. And it's only 2016.
