On Friday 12 September 2025 it was reported that Alex Belfield was banned from "uploading, adding, modifying or streaming any material on any site or app".
Former MP Andrew Bridgen confirmed this on X saying:
“I had dinner this evening with my old friend Alex Belfield. He has been banned from the internet by the Stazi, but he is ok and his emergency injunction against the MOJ will be filed in court next week.In these crazy times we all need to hear a Voice Of Reason.”
Investigative journalist Mark Williams-Thomas has now questioned this:
“Andrew I am keen to know the details of Bellfield's internet ban. He is not subject to a SOPO where internet restrictions can be applied? He would have to have a court order to ban him, but using what legislation? Correct me with facts if I am wrong, but I suspect he has been warned about his continued harassing online behaviour by probation given he is on licence . Easy to criticise others for actions, but if you are going to post something then please make it truthful and evidenced, which I strongly suspect it's not. I await to hear from you with supporting evidence that Belfield has been banned from the internet, rather than warned by probation about his ongoing harassing behaviour?”
Previously. On 15th April 2020 Alex Belfield pretended he had deleted Twitter. Within days he was continuing to post on Twitter. Now known as X. Belfield still has an active profile.
On 8th May 2020 Belfield posted a video claiming he was leaving YouTube.
As one of his victims, Philip Dehany believed this. In his post on Facebook, he hoped Alex Belfield would "find peace":
“Alex Belford posted what he indicates will be his last video on his YouTube channel Celebrity Radio.
For anyone who has followed this story over the past month. The last two weeks have been incredibly hard, with some more recent incidents that I did not document publicly.
It has tested me emotionally more than anything in my life, and it has taken a lot of strength to overcome, but I am proud that I managed to find my way back, and had begun to feel good again by yesterday. Before Alex even made this announcement.
It goes to show, we're all stronger than we think. And I hope that anyone who is feeling isolated or defeated, knows there is hope, and light, and an end in sight.
And to everyone who supported me, and reached out and looked out for me, I thank you.
As for Alex, I hope you find peace in your own time.”
The next day, Alex Belfield confirmed his video as a hoax:
“Performance Art 1. Alex proves acting is easy...
File under - 'Hook Line Sinker'.
Let's bring joy to the trolls & watch their heads explode with the palpable excitement of believing Celebrity Radio & it's creators mental health is destroyed. Yay!
#bekind hypocrites exposed 2020!
"Goodbye from Alex Belfield @ Celebrity Radio"
Oscar, BAFTA and two thumbs up please!
Stay tuned as next we out the 'pile on trolls' one by one this week. We'll name and shame those stupid enough to fall for the
'sacked' prank that we've been doing for 20 years. We'll also remind you of how all this started and play you the unedited tape from mummy.
Who's the real victim? All fair game. X
Isn't isolation & 2020 theatre a hoot! Breathtaking.
Thanks for the hits! We're up 436,000+
Stay tuned”
The "hoax" was presented as evidence in Alex Belfield's trial.
