After my comparison of the ARB Air locker, TJM Prolocker and the Harrop Eaton E-locker I received many requests of more examples of how the disengagement and reengagement of the E-locker locker when you make directional changes can stuff up your drive on technical 4wd tracks. here are a few examples on recent trips.
Steve in the 110 Defender had his lockers and whole diff housing twice replaced under warranty by Harrop as in both cases a grub screw came loose and destroyed his housing and locker.
Adrian removed both e-lockers after an initial fix by Harrop did not provide the results he wanted and he had ongoing issues with the engagement.
Kurt also had a cap screw come loose and destroy the locker after some effort the locker was replaced by Harrop under warranty. The engagement issues persist.

In todays video, I will be comparing two in-car 12v DCDC chargers, the Redarc BCDC1250D vs the Enerdrive EN3DC40+. I will explain the specs and features of both DCDC Chargers and even reveal a few undocumented features for the Redarc BCDC1250D. I will also give my opinion on the Pros and Cons of both 12v DCDC Chargers for use in a 4wd and especially with LiFePo4 Lithium.

In my video, I explain the boost mode time limit can be reset simply by disconnecting the load for instance restarting the car this is incorrect the boost time limit can only be reset
by disconnecting from all sources (input and output) which is usually not practical to do.
Here is how the boost charge time limit works:
The logic of the BCDC1250D includes:
• a 2 hours timeout in Bulk (also called Boost) where the unit will automatically move to Absorption / Float
• a total of 4 hours (from the beginning of Boost charging) before the unit can return to Boost charging
These timeouts were specifically introduced for safety reasons to avoid damage of batteries in harsh conditions (especially high-temperature environment) and to protect the charging of smaller capacity batteries and avoid them being damaged by a high charge rate being applied for too long.
For example, a large 200Ah lithium battery bank requiring 4h of full charging at 50ah, would be charged 2h in Boost, 2h of Absorption/Float (which will still provide some charging), 2h in Boost, etc until the charging is complete.

On this trip, we start at the Flinders Ranges, more precisely, the Bendleby Ranges, for another four days of some of the best 4wd, beautiful ranges campsites, incredible views, and some of the most technical driving you find in the Flinders Ranges. Initially, the Bendleby Ranges were not on the Itinerary as I have been here not that long ago, but at Joachims request, I added it to our trip. Unfortunately, in their TD5 Defender, Joachim and Virginia had a few issues and a catastrophic failure on one of the most inopportune tracks in the Hungry Ranges.
