Harding Icefield Trail, Exit Glacier Area, Kenai Fjords National Park, Seward Alaska
8.2 miles round trip, the Harding Icefield Trail is strenuous. The trail gains 1,000 feet of elevation with EVERY MILE! Be advised that weather and trail conditions including avalanche and snow issues can occur even into June; we hiked this the beginning week of June 2020 and could not make it the last less than a mile due to snow conditions that in my opinion were just too risky / slippery without proper gear. We plan on returning and doing the trail again to the end to relive the experience.
The views along this trail are absolutely amazing, even if you go up a short way you will be rewarded for your efforts with stunning scenery.
The trail is in the Exit Glacier area just north of Seward and the NPS Visitor Center can offer current trail conditions, maps, and answer any questions you may have.
Be Bear Aware!
