🐅 Happy International Tiger Day from Sumatran tiger cubs: Sumini, Nety, and Rudi! 12 years ago, this day began with the goal of reversing a century of global tiger population decline. A goal to not only celebrate, but bring awareness to this magnificent but endangered big cat.
Tigers are threatened primarily by human encroachment and habitat loss. Good news: populations of these beautiful, fierce hunters have begun to rebound, especially in India and the rest of South Asia.
We are so grateful for the role the Dallas Zoo is able to play in supporting and conserving this mesmerizing species. To help celebrate the day, our education team will be stationed near our tiger habitat from 9 a.m. until noon today leading activities and sharing tiger-themed info. Come join in on the fun, and learn more about this amazing species!
