I tried out more complex tweening and it turned out alright I think! well I kinda regret using part 3 Jotaro's design cuz his part 4 design would look a lot better, rip (and yes i am obsessed with jojo now, sorry)

While I dont care that much about the movie (its pretty unnecessary and meh imo) Im still excited about this reanimated project! I literally screamed when I saw I got accepted lol
Who We Are was already done in December and I procastinated a lot on Other Friends and just finished it. Im pretty proud of both scenes, although I feel like I couldve done a bit better on Spinels animation. oh well

people who have been following my wip channel will know how long Ive worked on this
its been even longer than that I dont even remember when I picked up this part
But anyway!! Super happy with this, would appreciate shares and such a lot! I think this is some of my best work so far

Gonna write an essay about the process of this so be prepared
When I initially picked up this part as backup I was gonna make a simple tweened part. As you can see in the scrapped part section I did the backgrounds in 3d and I was planning to paint over these. (at first I wanted to try to give the 3d bg a 2d look but it didnt work out oof) But since I love these two goofballs so much I thought no, this doesnt match their legendary rivalry and proceeded to remake the part.
I didnt completely start from scratch though since I still had that 3d background I made and I used that as a starting point to plan out the camera turnaround shot. Using that I knew what 2d assets to create when making the 2.5d background. I painted over the buildings in the background and the building theyre standing on is just a simple plane.
Oh btw when I decided to start over I had just gotten Toonboom and barely knew how to use it (I still dont really know lmao). Of course the first thing I try is a whole ass camera turnaround with backgrounds and all and of course it turned out bad
So more than a half year later I redo the camera movement with my new knowledge of the program and I also redid the background a little. Kaitos animation was also redone, but Conans is still the same from earlier because I remember spending a lot of time and work on his rig and I didnt want to be mean to younger me. (it looks fine still too) Kaito was pretty finished and after compositing this absolute nightmare of a shot was done!
For shot 1 the camera movement was much much simpler and I simply reused the 2.5d background I made but modified it to fit the new camera angle. Conan and Kaito were no issue and this shot was very quickly completed.
The panels themselves were no issue but editing them into the part was a bit of a pain. Im a bit upset they disappear so quickly again but you can easily pause the vid to look at them + the song is pretty fast paced so it fits ig
Shot 4 was probably the easiest to do since its just wholesome Kaito tweening. His hat was a bit annoying to rig but other than that very easy and fun
Overall this part was fun but also very annoying to work on, I really wish I hadnt procrastinated on it for so long but it is finally here!
Conan and Kaitos rivalry is one of my favorite things about this series. Its clear they dont hate each other and still have fun fighting one another and I wanted to portray that here. The building theyre standing on is meant to be the same one where they met for the first time and the panels show some of my favorite moments they had. Kaito disguisng himself as Ran on that cruise ship, him saving Conan in movie 14 after he got tossed out of the airship (still cant get over that lmfao) and Kaito disguising himself as Shinichi in the same movie (could be movie 8 too, you decide)
I still adore this franchise so much and I am thiiiis close to rewatching Conan again ughhh
