35 years ago, Jacques Mitterrand and Renato Bonifacio, the Presidents of Aerospatiale and Aeritalia, respectively, signed the agreement defining the terms of joint cooperation between the two companies on the ATR program. The signing ceremony took place in Paris on November 4, 1981, but approval to start the ATR 42 program had been given by the Boards of Directors for both companies on October 29.
