"In the script they called for him to be bored and aristocratic. We started there and then eventually hit on Boris Karloff, are you familiar with Boris Karloff? He was the mummy. Well, he was way before your time, in the 1930s he played a very famous version of the mummy and thought of that old-fashioned horror style way, and he had a little bit of a lisp, which I played up a bit for comedic purposes. And, yes, we just kind of eventually hit on that. There are a lot of versions we tried and that seemed to make people laugh the most, so we stayed with it."
"Moe the bartender you mean? This is Moe, you know, much misunderstood, and who else would you like to hear from? Apu? Yes, ok, Apu the Quickie Mart attendant, he's Southern Asian from India, he's of course a Hindu, a devout Hindu, and you know, works 24 hours a day, so tremendously busy person. And Chief Wiggum of course, works much less than that. In fact even when he's working he's not really working if you know what I mean. Hasn't put an honest days work in the 20 years the show has been on really."
"When I do long theatrical runs like on Broadway you have to take care because you do 8 shows a week using your voice but no, with 'The Simpsons' with stuff like this you do it with such bite-sized chunks even on films that it's... If you're screaming a lot you need to be careful, other than that, you know."
