Microsoft Scout is Microsoft's newest AI agent, and after spending hours getting it configured, I finally got hands-on access.
In this video you'll learn:
• What Microsoft Scout is
• How it fits into the Microsoft AI ecosystem
• How Scout compares to Copilot Cowork
• Why Scout feels different from traditional AI chat tools
• How Scout can access local files, run code, and interact with your PC
• What Automations, Heartbeats, Skills, and MCP servers are
• The licensing and setup requirements you need to know about
• The challenges I ran into getting Scout working
One of the biggest surprises was watching Scout solve problems by installing tools, writing Python code, running PowerShell commands, and working directly with files on my machine. This is a very different experience from Microsoft 365 Copilot, Copilot Chat, or even Copilot Cowork.
Keep in mind that Microsoft Scout is currently in Frontier preview, so setup is not trivial. You'll need Microsoft 365, GitHub Copilot Business or Enterprise, and Intune configuration before you can get started.
