Hunting season is right around the corner, so Caleb and Steve head to the reloading bench to load some .350 Legend hunting ammunition. This is a start-to-finish refresher on Caleb’s personal .350 Legend hunting load and the equipment he uses to put it together.
Caleb walks through his process using previously fired and cleaned .350 Legend brass, Hornady One Shot case lube, a Lyman turret press, Lee dies, an RCBS ChargeMaster Link, and Hornady 170-grain soft point bullets. He also explains why straight-wall .350 Legend cases load more like pistol cartridges than traditional bottleneck rifle cartridges.

Caleb works in batches, first sizing and decapping the cases before expanding, priming, charging, seating, and applying a taper crimp. Steve also shares a useful reloading tip: keeping a known-good sample cartridge with your dies can make it easier to return a seating die to a previously established setup.
Because .350 Legend is a straight-wall cartridge that headspaces on the case mouth, proper case preparation and crimping are important parts of the process. As with any handload, use current published load data for your exact combination of components rather than copying another shooter’s recipe.
