Hand drawing is old fashioned and out dated in these contemporary times. Especially since the invention and easy accessibility of CAD drawing software. However and that said, it's a good skill to have as you can easily sketch and share your ideas.
So why use CAD? Because the model can be shared, reproduced and or amended numerous times without loss. Furthermore, the parametric modelling data can be used via a subtractive or additive process to produce the part.
