Wonder World | Hand Carved Expandable Paper Sculptures @WonderWorldYTC | Uploaded May 2019 | Updated October 2024, 13 hours ago.
These amazing creations are by artist Felix Semper, who can sculpt and manipulate paper in some highly unusual ways, by carefully layering intricately-carved stacks of paper, to create an object or bust of a personality, that can expand like an accordion.
The sculptures are made out of hundreds, if not thousands of paper sheets, that are precisely cut and glued together to create an internal mechanism.
When layered together, the paper sculptures, appear to be made of stone, marble, plaster or other materials, but when Felix glues the layers of paper in this unique way, it bestows a fluid movement to the sculpture, and gives it a playful mobility, which lets it stretch, twist, elongate and retract like an accordion, or slinky.
Even though these sculptures are created with nothing more than paper & glue, each one can take anywhere from a few days to several months to create.
And even though the sculptures are made out of paper, you are going to need a lot of paper, aka money, to buy one, the price range for these one of a kind expandable paper sculptures range from $2000 to $100 thousand dollars, with an average of $15 thousand for what is on his website right now.
Thanks for watching.
