This is mission #3 in Halo: Combat Evolved. Holyyyyyyyyyyy hell I spent a total of 5.5 hours on this mission. Previous mission took about 1.5 hours but this was a whole different level. I guess I'm still becoming accustomed to this game and getting a feel for everything as well as familiarity. Definitely wasting too many sniper rounds on grunts and I think jackals are only worth sniping if you can guarantee a headshot and not waste more than one shot. By the time I got onto the Covenant ship, I was already out of sniper rounds which is a real shame, I think it made everything that much harder. I was also pretty surprised by the needler. I had a recollection it was a really shit gun and in multiplayer it likely is, but for campaign one whole "mag" of this gun onto an elite would guarantee kill them because they seem to track and then all explode on the body which seems to do a ton of damage. I also started recognizing that most grunts and elites almost always carry 2 plasma grenades so I started paying more attention to picking them up on the ground. Also, health packs seem to be around very rarely in far corners of the map so I might have to do a bit more exploration than I normally do. Overall, it was very satisfying completing this mission. The last escort part for Captain Keyes was also a nightmare, that stupid dumb fuck would sometimes stand out in the open and get gunned down so I would be forced to reset.
24:04 This checkpoint took me so long, I think roughly 2.5 hours to finally make it through. I really didn't think I would make it past this point, but I still need to find the proper balance. Sometimes I was too stingy about using grenades on anything BUT elites, but using one grenade to clear a group in a corridor is a lot better than using rounds on all of them let alone taking possible damage. Also, sometimes I didn't have the awareness to see an elite coming and they'd just pop up behind me and fuck me in the ass.

I guess now that Im accustomed to the changes and primarily playing through campaign, I dont get the feeling I will hate the experience like Ive heard from others. Ill be honest, it is not in my nature to follow the story or even pay attention to that while Im playing. Ive tried to watch through the cinematics and care, but ultimately I dont. It sucks, but thats just how it is. Basically Im saying this to emphasize that if I only focus on the gameplay and its still for the most part still a FPS that plays the same as previous Halo games, I dont see why I wouldnt be fine with playing through this campaign and enjoying it like normal.")

I was really irritated actually, I strongly disliked this mission. I guess I was hoping since it was the final mission that it would feel memorable and be fun. But instead the first half I have to pilot a shitty Banshee and then the final fight with Tartarus is so terrible. I found the design of the fight completely unfun, what is this keep away shit and waiting for the Sergeant to snipe him. Really annoying and of course the map was frustrating too with the lift in the center. I normally dont look up any missions for tips because I like figuring things out for myself, but since theres no health bar for him you cant tell if youre actually dealing proper damage to him. I mainly just read about him needing to be sniped first to drop his shields before I should even bother shooting him.")

I do think out of all the enemies you fight in Halo, I find fighting the flood the least interesting.")

Reasonable difficulty? Definitely became easier once I started recognizing the weapon racks.

Done with Halo Reach campaign! For the most part I definitely liked it and enjoyed the new weapons... well maybe only the needle rifle haha. Almost everything else I didnt feel like using, its hard to branch out when you have your select favorites. I do have to say though, battle rifle definitely better than DMR! Something about that three bullet shot and the sound is... just bliss. Decided to preorder Halo Campaign Evolved with the 5 day early release so Im excited to play it next week!")

Im really liking these missions so far, Im not sure what exactly Im liking about the game but I think overall it just feels really polished. I do like that we have a health bar again, in Halo 2/3 not having a health bar was surprising to me after playing Halo 1 campaign. I like the new guns although I dont know the difference between plasma repeater and rifle?")
