At the end of Halo 2's 'The Great Journey' there is a cinematic where Cortana and Gravemind talk before the game ends. This room as you might guess is a real asset, not pre-rendered. The ability to get into this room has existed for quite some time, but with the recent addition of the Acrophobia Skull to Halo 2 to the MCC it finally pushed us to get into this room. Before the addition of Acrophobia, the furthest we'd get is spawning in the room and just falling to our deaths over and over as the location the game puts us is really high in the air with nothing to stop our fall. A few years ago, a tricker by the name of Anakade accidentality performed a glitch on the level Metropolis where he was stuck in the void at the start of the level. By hitting a loadzone switch at the same time as he restarted the level, the game buffered the loadzone change over to the following restart, causing the wrong BSP to be loaded on startup. We call this "Restart Grabbing". This is the same trick we are using here. It makes it trickier to know when to restart as we can't see "Loading...done" during cinematics, of course. Nothing is ever that easy. However, with a ton of trial and error Harc and Slowhand managed to get it! We would like to give a shoutout to Mister Monopoli for being the first person to attempt to try to get into this room, and for doing virtually the same trick on the level Cairo Station, the first successful cutscene restart grab that inspired the following video.
