[ H A L O 1 M O D D I N G I N F O ]
If you plan on experimenting with multiplayer mods, here's what you need to know.
The way that Halo 1 mods work is essentially all on the host-side, meaning that only the host's installed mods matter for what effects happen on the server. Texture mods don't really apply, but game mechanics are the big one that are affected here. This is why if you hop into some random servers, you'll get blindsided by weapons doing random damage, because the host is running a rocket AR while your game only sees a normal AR being fired, but then seconds later you're hit with invisible damage.
So if you plan on playing with some pals, decide which mods you're using together.
ALSO backup all your maps. Go to your installation folder for Halo, find the maps folder, and just make a copy of the whole thing. Mods are on a per-map basis, minus the bitmaps.map file, so you replace your existing maps to use modded maps.

Since you may need to skip some levels due to the white screen glitch, manually unlocking all the levels is kinda useful.
UPDATE: The white screen glitch has supposedly been patched! Check the Github for a new version if you need. Regardless, unlocking levels can be handy if it happens at any other level.
First, launch the game and start a new singleplayer campaign just to create the proper folders, then exit the game.
Navigate to your saves folder in "C:\Users\[yourusername]\Documents\My Games\Halo\savegames\[yourgameprofile]\checkpoints"
In there, add in the following .sav files: patreon.com/posts/116992587
If you wish to do it manually, essentially you just need to create a notepad text file with the following inside:
0,0,0
0,0,0
0,0,0
Name the file "checkpoint0.sav" and then create progressively numbered files numbered 0 through 9. In each file, just change the first number in the above arrangement.
