Stygian Dogs | Halloween Special! Comic Comparison! A Shuddery Tale of Dark Horror and Evil Things! @StygianDogs | Uploaded October 2024 | Updated October 2024, 14 hours ago.
Hey you Stygian Dogs!
Join me for a shuddery tale of dark horror and evil things, and the uncanny funeral rites over the corpse of old John Grimlan.
Featuring the investigators of the occult John Conrad and John Kirowan, Robert E. Howard’s ‘Dig Me No Grave’ appeared in the February 1937 issue of ‘Weird Tales’.
To celebrate Hallowe'en and the renewed interest in these characters (thanks to Jim Zub’s ‘Battle of the Black Stone’ mini-series), I offer you a reading of Howard’s story contrasted with Roy Thomas’ comic book adaptation from the 1972 Issue #1 of ‘Journey into Mystery’. Thomas’ 8-page story features the art of Gil Kane and Tom Palmer.
