With Halloween Kills releasing this month, we're going to take a look at the lost sequels of the Halloween franchise, otherwise known as the Halloween scripts that were never made. These include stories that involve alternate returns for characters like Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis), or Dr. Sam Loomis (Donald Pleasence), and others, as they face off against Michael Myers aka the Shape. This version in particular details a Halloween 4 script which was commissioned by Moustapha Akkad after he became the sole rights holder of the Halloween franchise. Putting out an open call for screenwriters to submit their stories, it was this script written by Daniel Kenney and Marc Allyn Medina which found its way to the top of the pile, and was in serious contention to be the official Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers.
This script is notable for a couple of things. First and foremost, it presents an alternate timeline where Laurie Strode never died in a car accident and instead is married and has a daughter who is not Jamie Lloyd. It's also very 80s, and would definitely have been a product of the MTV generation. It also changes the setting from Haddonfield to a more urban backdrop, kind of making this the Michael Takes Chicago of the Halloween films. But mostly, it stands out for the many similarities to Halloween H2O (H20), as this would have been Michael and Laurie's first major anniversary and reunion.
