In this video, we will go through the creation of October Special - Halloween Photoshop Art for Benny's Spooky Edit War hosted by @BennyProductions
This spooky season, one of my favorite YouTuber, Benny from Benny Productions hosted an awesome Spooky Edit War. Here, participants needed to only use the stock images provided and create a Halloween themed Photoshop art.
This was my entry for the contest.
I named it ~ Jack's Halloween
Well, as for my concept behind the art - I tried to create a compact and cohesive composition while maintaining realism and believability. I did think about doing something wacky but finally ended up with a classic Halloween theme. I tried to create an impression that the old haunted mansion has come to life, and pumpkins in the entryway have also started to glow with the joy of the occasion. Now, it is up to you to imagine if something spooky is going on in the house, or it's actually someone who has lit every light and made the mansion light up for the treat.
Along with placing, morphing combining stock images provided by Benny, I really wanted to paint something manually. So I took parts of the ruins and converted them into arches of the gate and manually painted the bars. Then I painted the pine trees and the distant pine forest thinking that it may add to the spooky factor. Finally, I couldn't help myself from adding some bats and fireflies to give that finishing touch.
Moreover, as we are not allowed to use additional textures or images, I created two Photoshop brushes out of the stock images provided by Benny. I took parts of the sky to make a cloud brush and combined the grass stock images to create a brush out of it. Then used them to fine-tune the sky with the clouds and create the grassy textures on the grounds.
Finally, it took about 12 hours to complete the artwork, and it was a bit difficult to fit everything into one video. But I hope you will find this video helpful and enjoy watching it!
