Marvel still hasn’t clearly defined what the X-Men even are in this universe. Are they continuing the Deadpool & Wolverine meta-commentary about rejected heroes trying to prove their worth? That worked for a ragtag, discarded squad — but the Fox X-Men aren’t rejects. They’re iconic, beloved, and the only versions of these characters audiences know. So what’s the actual conflict here? Captain America fighting Wolverine means nothing without shared history. Cyclops clashing with Thor has no emotional grounding.
