The UK's most anticipated Horror/Scare Event is finally here and it's Halloween Haunt Fest!
We attended the press media night and unfortunately it just wasn't ready, But i saw a lot of potential and tried to find the positives, it's going to come across like I'm just angling for more invites but honestly it's not that, I'm quite new to these events and haven't done many so my bar isn't overly high and that comes into my thinking for this event so please keep that in mind when watching.
HHF had a massive marketing campaign, it really was built as the next BIG thing and unfortunately it never reached anywhere near that in the press night with unfinished mazes, some of the worst communications I've seen, Everyone just stood around looking bored and frustrated, I felt sorry for the actors trying to entertain but everyone had had enough by the end of the night! The organisation was extremely poor and that's the biggest let down for me, They just were not ready to open.
The mazes themselves actually were good, I enjoyed 3/4 of them, Thought Eden was really bad from the costume design and the actors looking like it was drama class at school with cardboard alien costumes.. sorry!
I'm a huge fan of The Texas Chainsae Massacre movie, The 1974 version and think they did a very nice job here but batching issues really hurt the actors here and if you wasn't first in the group you'd missed all of the scared and scenes.. much to improve on here but it has potential!
Winnie the Pooh wasn't finished, it clearly wasn't ready and so many of the theming just half baked but thought the actors were good and tried really hard to be intermediating, Also the masks were bloody fantastic, They based the maze on the two movies but felt they ran out of money or ideas or both and just hung some black tarps to pad out the maze and they felt so out of place and cheap .. poor decision in my opinion!
Overall loved the effort of the actors and can see massive potential.
Finally the witch maze...
The most anticipated because it literally opened right at the death and I'm happy to report it was the strongest maze! Full with actors who were very good! Felt like this maze took the majority of the budget as it was incredibly well themed with lighting, Smoke and set designs that put you in a village where people were believable about a witch, top notch acting and a brilliant set .. I loved this maze!
The event organisers clearly have talent, passion and deep pockets as securing the UK's only official IP scare mazes won't be cheap! Let down by time ..
My review is positive, I just felt and heard a lot of negativity on the night and just wanted to try and find positives.
Definitely come here and support the passionate team, they deserve another crack at this ...
