Alright so one of the biggest questions revolving around Halloween Ends, is what is up with Michael’s curse aka his sensual gaze with Corey.
“This magic moment”
So throughout the film it’s pretty much established that not Michael Myers, but rather the Shape is where the evil comes from.
Laurie even says at the end
“But the truth is evil doesn’t die. It changes shape.”
Which is what we saw when Corey essentially takes on the mantle and dawns the mask. Evil has consumed him, and there always needs to be a boogeyman.
Now we can chalk up “evil” as a supernatural element, but instead if we look at it as an infection, the potential for evil is in everyone.
But only a few will contract the actual virus, in this case Michael, Dr. Sartain, and Corey. Haddonfield’s citizens always need someone to blame for bad events, therefore creating the monster they grow to fear.
I do believe Jeremey, the young boy was primed to become the next evil shape, because of his nightmares and voices he was hearing, but this infection then jumped to Corey upon his death. And when Michael looked into his eyes he saw a bit of himself. Pain, hurt, and most importantly fear.
Lauire also said “fear moves though all of us, and we decide when to surrender. Which is where Corey looks into Michael’s eye, seeing they are both the monsters Haddonfield views them as, and surrenders to the evil.
So in a sense the evil never disappears, it will forever be present, lingering, waiting for someone to surrender and become the new shape of evil dawning the mask, which does tie in with the theme of Halloween 3 and evil masks.
